FISHING AT KOMATI GORGE

 FISHING RULES

A free fishing permit can be obtained from reception.

Only recognised fly fishing tackle  used for fishing – No bait fishing or spinning.

Fishing is only allowed from dawn till dusk.

Barbless hooks are to be used at all times in the river and dams.

Fishing in the Komati river is on a catch and release basis only.

Please record all fish caught, whether kept or released, on the catch card printed on the back of the fishing rules.

There is no bag limit for trout although fish may be kept for R75.00 per fish (not per kg)

Wet your hands properly before touching a fish which you plan to release. Restrain the fish gently and remove the hook without tearing its mouth. Ensure that the fish is properly revived by holding it upright and gently moving it forwards and backwards to allow water to flow over its gills. If the fish does not revive and turn belly up or bleeds it will have to be kept and payment from you will be expected.

Children must be supervised at all times when close to the dams or river.

Dispose of all litter including tackle and cigarette ends in a bin.

No swimming allowed in the dams.

Thank you for your cooperation.
